About the CompanyEktaco was established in April of1989 as an Estonian-Finnish joint venture. The founder of the Estonian side was the Department of Control Systems of the Special Design Bureau in the Institute of Cybernetics, which had been founded in 1980. EKTACO was the fourth joint venture registered in Estonia.
In September 1996 the company was transformed into a public limited company and registered in the commercial register. In 2002 the shares of the company were registered in the Estonian Central Register of Securities. Ektaco is based on private capital and the share capital of the company amounts to 2.463 mil kroons (157 399 EUR).
The trademark of the company has the trademark certificate No 06967of the Republic of Estonia.
Ektaco has been a member of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 1997 and a member of the Estonian Association for Quality since 2000. Tenant Company of TEHNOPOL Tallinn Science Park since 2009.
The turnover has been more as 1,51 million euro in year 2007 and grows continuously. Our annual financial and economic activities reports are always audited by authorised auditors.
The average number of personnel is 26. The majority of our employees have higher education and a large number of our people are continuing their education. It has been important for us to balance the interests of our customers, employees and owners in our economic activities. The owners have invested the major part of their earned profits into sustainable development of the company and own products. Development and implementation of data collection and process control systems has been our main business in four business areas: Over the years we have maintained the skills for integration of software and hardware and the ability to realise customer solutions or specifications developed in co-operation with our customers into well-functioning products/systems. The knowledge involving all our business areas has been realised in implemented projects. CertificatesEktaco was certified against the ISO 9000:2000 standard and was granted the quality management system certificate on 28 December 2001 by Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI).
Our core activity ‘Design, development, implementation and maintenance of hardware and software based data collection and process control systems’ is certified. On 22 December 2004 a renewed certificate No. 165756A was issued, which confirms the satisfaction of the requirements of the approved management systems. The surveillance audits of January 2006 have confirmed the system operation.
The quality policy of Ektaco AS is to offer systems which fully meet customer requirements in order to make their work simpler and to prevent loss.
The certificate reinforces the trust of our customers to the systems supplied by Ektaco AS. Our systems are built in compliance with internationally recognised procedures and the certificate serves as the basis for our international relations. Ektaco has registered the following activity in the ‘State register of undertakings operating in areas of activity subject to special requirements":

Ektaco has the licence for electrical work. As a result of the work performed and as a sign of partnership Schneider Electric granted us Modicon's quality and training certificates for control engineering and technology in 1999. Recently Schneider Electric Eesti AS granted us the certificate of control system integrators. Ektaco cash register system CompuCash was implemented in 1997 and it was the first system which realised the payment opportunities of integrated bank cards and the Centre for Bank Cards issued certificate No.1 to us. The card payment module developed by us for Eesti Post (Estonian Post)cash register system has also been certified. In compliance with the requirements established by the Estonian banking system we have switched over to the EMV standard which supports smart card technology and we are owners of respective certificates 29, 30 and 55. In order to provide services of the design, installation and maintenance of security equipment in accordance with the Security Act, we have been issued the activity licence PA-772-TU by competent authority.
